Corbin Times Home Edition Archive
December 22, 2006
Holy cow, where'd the year go? I've sat down to write this
newsletter six time now and haven't been capable of finishing it.
One of the drawbacks to being a marketing geek is that the end of
the year brings a lot of tasks to the table. Hope you didn't miss
us too bad! ;o)

Yeah, yeah... It's about time to pull a winner for December and
Chuck's finally getting around to givin' up the dough for Nov. Sorry kids, just been a heckuva month.
November's winner and
lucky recipient of $300 Corbin bux is:
Ok bro, all you have to do is send me an e-mail with your snail
mail address within the next two weeks. firstname.lastname@example.org
* CONGRATS TO STEVE
Our October winner was paying attention and responded in plenty of
time to pickup the prize. Only problem was he had just received
the seat he ordered from us the week before! Well, maybe he needs
the backrest to go with it. Congrats!
* RETURN OF THE RALLY
It's official baby, the Rally's back! Tom and myself sat in on the
Hollister City Council meeting a couple weeks back to get first hand info and are
pleased to report that the city has APPROVED a contract with the
Hollister Motorcycle Rally Committee (HMRC) to
organize a motorcycle rally the weekend of July 6-8, 2007.
I'd like to report on all the drama that took place, but the
reality of the situation is that it was pretty anti-climactic. No
big crowd of angry citizens brandishing pitchforks, no mob of unruly bikers (you know who you are)...
Just the HMRC folk, Horsepower promotions, and a small handfull of other interested
parties like Tom and I. So the cogs of city government ground along and ended up approving
the contract by a vote of four - one. Leading the charge for approval was Councilman Emerson
who was the number one opponent of the event last year. His comments (loosely paraphrased)
was that he was "Very Comfortable" with this agreement and with the parties involved.
So a hearty THANX to the HMRC and to Seth at Horsepower Promotions for bringing the rally home!

* HOLIDAY GREETS
Loyal readers will remember the hullabaloo around our December newsletter in 2005.
Chuck's inability to be politically correct and just say "Happy Holidays" like the rest of corporate America
resulted in a rash of newsletter UN-subscriptions. Since I wasn't blessed with the skills required
to know when to shut up, there was a brief tyrade in the following edition. I'm happy to say
the response was hugely positive which brings me to the point...
Merry Christmas folks! Yes, we also want you to have a Happy Holiday season, but we're just going to be silly like that and say "Merry Christmas" despite what the PC crowd dictates. I can pretty much guarantee that we
will NOT be offended if someone wishes us a Joyous Kwanza or something of the like, so I don't
suspect you'll take offense to well wishes about Christmas.
Instead, we can all celebrate the diversity of people and the freedom to celebrate in any form we choose.
Best of the season to you and yours! Stay warm.
* SPEAKING OF HOLIDAYS
We'll pretty much be clearing out next week with just a bare bones
staff managing the few phone calls that will trickle in. Personally
Chuck is out the door 'till New Years so we'll talk to you when
we get back.
The last catalog published by Corbin was in 2003. Since that time
we've done some printed pieces for our dealers, but otherwise the
Corbin sponsored TV show and our website has been our main promo
material. This year we're back to the printers and making brand specific brochures that will be available
directly from us or one of our fine dealers around the nation.
First out of the gate will be Harley-Davidson, followed closely by
Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, etc... Just as soon as I get our
proof copy back from Mike, I running this one off to the printer so it should be ready mid January.
Look for the rest hot on its heels and releasing late January to early February.
* RALLY SCHEDULE
We'll be back on the road early next year with a return to the Indianapolis dealer show followed by Cincinatti V-Twin expo and then of course Bike Week in Florida.
* NEW DIGS UPDATE
The new store in Ormond Beach is nearly complete with a scheduled
move-in date of January 9, 2007. This place is AWESOME and we'd
really like to encourage you to stop in and check it out. In fact,
did you know that we offer free installs year 'round? So if you're
thinking about a set of Corbin bags or a fairing, just make a date
with us in either Hollister or Ormond and we'll get the stuff
painted up and install it for you free-o-charge.
* MERRY, MERRY KIDS
Okey-dokey, I'm off to the printers. Have yourselves a great holiday and don't forget to eat
too much and spend too much, spoiling your family.
